Colleen Clark, LCPC
About me
Hello, and thank you for taking the time out of today to focus on you. My name is Colleen Clark and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and practicing therapist in Portland, Maine. My approach to counseling integrates classical therapeutic approaches, mindfulness and artistic modalities. I believe strongly that any therapeutic relationship in which the therapist is held up as an expert is innately flawed. You are the expert on you. In sessions, I will work with you to build a relationship built on mutual respect and trust, and seek to create a safe and nurturing space in which you can uncover and listen to your own intrinsic wisdom.
Throughout our lives we are repeatedly told who we are or who we ought to be by others and then, in turn, we repeat those messages to ourselves. These repeated messages can often be damaging, detrimental and deeply ingrained. In sessions we will work together to differentiate between your true experience of self and that which was imposed on you. This process can often be challenging and painful, but I will work with you at your pace to process those challenges and pains as they arise. Ultimately, through our work together, I hope that you will conclude therapy in a place of greater congruence, self-actualization and peace.
Throughout my education and in my over five years of practice I have come to specialize in working with those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, communication, substance use, disordered eating, transitional periods of life, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, and persons healing from trauma. I am experienced in working with adults, couples, and adolescents ages eleven to eighteen.
I applaud you for your courage in exploring this new chapter. Change is challenging and I am honored to be a part of helping you enact that change. Thank you for considering me to help you on your journey. I look forward to working with you.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Colleen Clark. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Colleen was easy to talk to right away. She's got a great energy. She is professional but also comes across as another human being with relatable problems. Every time I meet with her it's like I'm talking to a good friend. She listens and responds in a respectful way. The best part, for me, is she'll call you out on things that you say or do that aren't helping you to heal and grow. I'm so happy with my decision to seek out therapy and I'm thankful that I was matched with Colleen. She's amazing!
